NASCAR positions like pit crew members, all the way to marketing specialists is something found by NASCAR, which is the most recognized stock car racing organization in the United States.
Every role has a set of responsibilities and the minimum criteria for qualification and potential earnings of each role.
To do that, we will discuss the top paying jobs in NASCAR and the reasons that generate their lucrative salaries.
Variables That Determine Salaries For NASCAR Jobs
NASCAR professionals are paid according to Category Some factors that impact salary:
- Experience and Skill level: A person with a lot of experience and top-notch skills often get paid more.
- Team Performance: Compensation at increased levels of performance elsewhere can shift (with limits on top end) compensation on team with same logic as elite teams.
- The budget of the team: The financial base of the team will determine how much it can compensate its employees.
Salaries can depend on the specific responsibilities for the role within NASCAR (i.e., pit crew members, marketing specialist, event coordinators, etc.).
Pit Crew Members: The Unsung Heroes & Heroines
A racing team could not survive without a capable pit crew that will take care of their driver during all pit stops, making sure that nothing will go wrong and all pit stops will run smoothly.
Their payment consists of a basic salary, performance bonuses; and maybe, in some cases, sponsorship offers or endorsem*nt.
Their salaries might depend upon experience, the team or how much direct role they have within the pit crew.
The annual salary for a pit crew member ranges between $30,000 to $100,000. But the average pit crew member reportedly makes an annual salary of $86,421 - top performers can generate $132,876 a year from all sources of income, including bonuses and endorsem*nts.
Salaries for each member of the pit crew range with the base salaries fluctuating based upon the role of that individual within the pit crew and the overall success of the team.
Crew chiefs that have been doing it for years can earn north of $300k a year, betraying how valuable knowledge of the depth and strategy of the sport can be.
Bonus and Endorsem*nts
In the NASCAR garage, 78% of pits crew members earn performance-based bonuses, which increases their average salaries by $10,543 a year.
In addition, NASCAR organizations and high-paid pit crew members can have lucrative sponsorship and endorsem*nt agreements as well, which may comprise a significant portion of their overall compensation package.
Business News: NASCAR's Highest Paid Job Is in New Business Development
The highest earning segment of the NASCAR workforce is New Business Development professionals at NASCAR, who make an average salary of $218,757 per year.
This is a role where you get to create new business opportunities, establish and maintain relationships with new or existing prospects and clients, and drive the growth of the organization.
Why NASCAR Needs Marketing and Public Relations Specialists
NASCAR also depends on marketing & PR gurus to make races / events public to the people. However there is a great emphasis on sports marketing positions with a key digital lens.
Get good support from marketing or PR specialists information should be presented not just to the taxpayers but toall stakeholders.
Marketing managers Earn an average hourly wage of $50,000 to $140,000 across most industries. The average salary of a PR manager falls somewhere between $50,000 and $100,000 a year.
Event Coordinator- Planning and Execution of NASCAR Events
NASCAR is also big business, with the logistics of any given race touching on such outsized concerns as the number of fans and media presence, the concessions operation and public safety.
It is the duty of the event coordinators to make sure that those events execute as seamlessly as possible.
While exact salary numbers for NASCAR event coordinators are not available, the average salary for a sports event coordinator in general is somewhere around $45,000.
Race Official: Making NASCAR Races Safe and Fair
It is upon NASCAR race officials to minimize risks on the already risky motorsport. They inspect and test every car, follow safety regulations to a tee and even talk to each-other during a race.
A NASCAR race official makes on average $70,601 a year, with the top earners bringing home more than $127,229 a year.
Now, this does not mean that every New Business Development position is suddenly going to be the highest paying job within the sport, but it's clear that New Business Development and Crew Chief positions are among the highest paying jobs in the industry.
NASCAR hopefuls need to understand the extreme demand required to be successful along with the rewards that can be reaped when dreams unfold in a career where there might be more at stake than just their first race.
