Teluk Gading Jetty, formerly known as Tanjung Gemok Jetty, offers ferry services to Tioman Island as a convenient alternative to Mersing Jetty.

Unlike Mersing, ferry departure times at Teluk Gading are unaffected by water tides, ensuring reliable travel.

In this guide, we have compiled the latest updates related to the jetty.

1. Overview: Teluk Gading Jetty

As we said before, Teluk Gading Jetty is an alternative departure point for Singaporeans and travellers going to Tioman Island when Mersing Jetty ferry tickets are sold out.

Yes, we know that Mersing Jetty is preferred due to its proximity to Singapore. However, Teluk Gading Jetty has advantages, too.

This jetty provides ferry services to Tekek, Paya, ABC, Salang, and Genting on Tioman Island.

But if you’re heading to Mukut or Juara, there is no other choice but to depart from Mersing Jetty.

You can reach Teluk Gading Jetty via public transportation from Singapore or by car, taking an additional 45 minutes from Mersing Jetty.

Here’s why you should choose Teluk Gading Jetty:

• It is less crowded, has fewer traffic jams, is less affected by tides,
• Offers a more reliable ferry schedule, and has a shorter ferry ride than Mersing Jetty.

But, of course, some people might not prefer this jetty due to:

• Only 1 ferry operator operates from this jetty which is the Bluewater Express.
• It is further from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
• There is fewer bus and 1 option accommodation.

3. Transport Options

You can choose from two main transport options to reach Teluk Gading Jetty from Singapore.

3.1 Private Car Taxi

Travelling directly to Teluk Gading Jetty from Singapore by private car is always the best option, especially with a luxury MPV.

Why?

Border congestion between Singapore and Malaysia is severe during weekends and public holidays, making travel stressful.

3.2 Coach

4. Parking Lots & Fee

For those driving to Teluk Gading Jetty, there are two outdoor car parks: Carpark A and B. The parking fee is RM10 per day.

5. Ferry Terminal Operator & Routes

At Teluk Gading Jetty, the only ferry operator to Tioman Island is Bluewater Express, operated by Bistari Gemilang Travel Sdn Bhd and Bistari Gemilang Shipping Sdn Bhd.

Previously, CataFerry also operated from this jetty but no longer does.

Tickets can be purchased online via Bluewater Ferry‘s website.

The jetty counter sells tickets too but it’s not recommended due to limited seats.

Seats allocation at the counter ticket is lesser than online because more people are opting for online ticket purchase instead of at the counter.

6. Tioman Marine Park Fee

You’ll be required to pay a Tioman Marine Park Fee, also known as the Conservation Fee. This fee helps protect the island’s beautiful coral reefs and marine life.

Here is the breakdown of the fees:

Malaysian Ringgit (RM) is usually used to pay the fee at the ferry terminal before leaving from Mersing or Tanjung Gemok. Make sure you have enough cash on hand.

7. Departure Procedure

You can follow these simple steps for departure:

Step 1: Fill online check-in form.

Step 2: Collect boarding pass at Kaunter 3, Terminal Feri Penumpang Teluk Gading (1 hour before departure)

Reminder:

• The counter closes 20 minutes before boarding.
• A boarding pass must be collected from the ticket counter to board the ferry.

Step 3: Pay the Tioman Marine Park Fee

Step 4: Wait at the waiting hall

Step 5: Board the ferry (boarding pass check)
