Alight, the day has arrived. All SFO gates are now connected airside. I'll update the wiki.

So is A & G connected airside or not?

There's no contradiction -- A & G are connected airside, but you have to go around the long way.

I see. Well, to me that's not much of a "connection." As others pointed out, better to exit and re-enter despite the extra security check, especially for those with TSA Pre and/or Clear.

Yes, that's kind of been the topic of discussion the last half dozen or so posts.
Not much reason really to connect A-G directly from the airport's perspective, as the only reason to cross from A to G is to use a lounge. Even a T1-G or T3-A connection would be extremely rare. The main benefit of the new connector would be the ability to get from C to A airside, which was previously not possible, and would actually matter if you're connecting between DL and ST long-haul.

Yes, aside from lounge visits, I doubt there will be much traffic between A and G.

While I agree with the above world view according to FlyerTalk, let's not forget that most travelers do not have or care so much about lounge access and could benefit from easier and faster access between T1-G and T3-A, etc. to visit their favorite shops, F&B outlets, and art exhibits, etc. This is especially true for those with special interests and/or dietary needs and preferences, e.g. vegan/vegetarian food options in selected few venues.
Since SFO is arranged in a circular instead of straight line configuration, I would argue that it isn't fully connected airside until A-G is connected.

All gates are now connected airside even if A to G or vice versa would be going a longer way if done via the airside connection.
While I imagine at some point in the past there has been a passenger who has accessed the A or G gates when flying out of the other concourse for an airside amenity that isn't a lounge, this is not a common situation. What is a more common situation is what another post already mentioned about SkyTeam connections via SFO now having an airside path from C to A. That situation is likely more common than an A concourse passenger wanting to visit the Centurion Lounge.
Finally, in the situation that you described where a passenger has an airside amenity in mind, this passenger could go airside at the concourse with the amenity and then walk airside to the other concourse. Even though the distance is longer, the overhead of exiting landside and reclearing security might be higher than a longer walk assuming that the passenger may not have Precheck, CLEAR, or access to priority security lanes.

Absent some unusual circ*mstance, I'd walk airside around the loop. I think my landside walks around the loop (before the B/C construction block) were 20-ish minutes. A <-> G landside would be no less than 10 minutes if the stars are aligned. And I've found the int'l security checkpoints to be amongst the least efficient - a couple weeks ago during the evening A didn't even have a dedicated Precheck lane - it did to enter the checkpoint, and then you got a card to show the agent inside, so Mr. and Mrs. Bumbles and the kids could easily be right in front of you for their annual trip to wherever.

I would too. I also find the similar backups at International A where either CLEAR on the Precheck side is closed or the Precheck lane is closed entirely without regard to time of day. I've had 3 departures from International A this year, one in the morning, one midday, and one in the evening, and the Precheck lane was closed each time. Two out of the three times the CLEAR kiosks were roped off with no staff in sight. So, yes, even though it's a longer walk, I'd take advantage of the airside connection between International G and International A if I had reason to visit one concourse even if I were flying out of the other one.

Security at both G and A can be a problem, with no dedicated pre-check for much of the day. But it's at least 1.5 miles walking airside so I suspect in most instances for those with pre it would still be materially quicker to just go straight across the international departures lobby (and that's what I would do).

I seem to be lucky with SFO security. Since I got Clear and PreCheck, I've never had a very long wait at SFO. I once had a longish wait (maybe 20 minutes) at the D-Concourse. I remember a really backed up situation at International-A once, but my Clear/PreCheck combo got me through that within 10 minutes or so. It might have been 45 minutes for the mere mortals.

Might be another 100-200 ft longer (need to expand the circle in the T1/T2 areas assuming airside routing), but not a bad estimate.
